Baltimore and Annapolis rank among the best cities for art lovers, according to readers of AmericanStyle magazine.

Readers voted Baltimore No. 9 on its list of big cities and Annapolis No. 13 on its list of small towns. New York City held the top spot, followed by Chicago and Washington, D.C. Among towns with less than 100,000 residents, Santa Fe, N.M., Asheville, N.C., and Sedona, Ariz., were ranked the top three favorites.

Readers selected their favorite towns to visit galleries and attend museums and festivals.

Based in Baltimore, AmericanStyle listed the results in its June/July issue. The magazine is published by the Rosen Group and has 150,000 readers. Jean Thompson, a spokeswoman for the magazine, said "thousands" participated in the survey but did not have an exact number.
